Our History
In November 1994, Baumann & DeGroot was founded by Jeff Baumann and Larry DeGroot in Holland, Michigan. They initially focused on new construction projects within the Holland and Zeeland areas. Over time, the company expanded its service offerings, responding to increased demand throughout the 1990s.
By the early 2000s, B&D experienced significant growth, culminating in the addition of Josh Johnson to its team in 2003, a pivotal moment as he assumed leadership of the service department to facilitate dedicated service operations.
The year 2007 marked a critical juncture for B&D when the stock market crash precipitated a slowdown in new construction. In response, the company strategically shifted its focus to high-end new construction projects, a move that bolstered its resilience during the economic downturn. Concurrently, replacement projects gained prominence within its portfolio.
Partnership changes in 2010 saw Larry DeGroot’s retirement and Jeff Baumann’s acquisition of his stake, with Josh Johnson assuming a partner role. Under new leadership, B&D continued to evolve, expanding with Chad’s oversight of the replacement sales department in 2014.
The company’s growth necessitated a relocation in September 2017 to a larger facility at 230 E Lakewood Blvd, Holland, facilitating its expansion across the West Michigan shoreline. Despite challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, including supply chain disruptions, B&D benefited from its new, spacious facility, enabling strategic bulk purchasing and enhanced operational agility.
By 2023, B&D had firmly established itself as a resilient entity, underscored by the symbolic gesture of painting an American flag on its building—a testament to its endurance and success throughout nearly three decades of operations, navigating both prosperous and challenging economic climates.
